High-Raw Detox: What I've Been Eating

Hi all!
I had no idea so many of you have gone raw before! I would love to hear more about it :)
I've been doing pretty well for the past few days on the detox- but cravings have started! They are for the oddest things, too... chocolate frosting, lemon bars with powdered sugar (?!!) --I haven't had those in years! I've also been craving warm pillowy doughy Italian bread with olive oil... But, I must persist!
I've been enjoying many other delicious things...

More chocolate-covered strawberries from my previous recipe
Glorious kale chips- the best I've ever had!
I de-stemmed a large amount of kale and drizzled over 1 TBSP of coconut oil. I massaged it all in with my hands, then spritzed with Braggs liquid aminos (one of my favorite condiments!). I baked them at 350* for about 11 minutes, turning halfway. The Braggs added an amazing flavor, and I am going to sprinkle these with nutritional yeast the next time I make them. They also made the apartment smell delicious!
Sprouted mung bean salad with chopped tomatoes, garam masala, and sea salt. Super refreshing.
Zucchini "sandwiches" with pureed beans.
Marinated mushrooms- the only thing I have not enjoyed! I don't know if it's raw mushrooms or the too-sour marinade, but I was unable to eat these and had to get rid of them. I detest wasting food but I couldn't stomach these so out they went :(
This was what I ate after work today- raw broccoli, raw sauce, and veggie sushi!
How cute are they? I grated carrots in the food processor and gave them the "sushi rice treatment." I sprinkled the grated carrots with rice vinegar and drizzled with a bit of agave nectar (rather than sugar), then combined. Then, I filled my nori wrappers with the carrots, celery strips, and alfalfa sprouts. So fabulous- especially when spritzed with Braggs! I usually like to make my raw "rice" with cauliflower, but this definitely worked well too.

In addition to these things, I've been eating a lot of fruit (bananas, grapes, pineapple (times a zillion), apples), nuts (raw cashews and almonds, roasted peanuts), and more mung sprouts and other beans.

It's probably too soon to say, but I feel like I've noticed a difference in several areas.
Especially my nails...(awkward pic)
The tips are super white and as hard as diamonds- like Ponyta's hooves!
Okay, maybe they're not as hard as diamonds- but they feel indestructable!
I have also noticed that my hair feels softer (probably all of the healthy fats from the ntus!), and I haven't felt puffy or bloated after eating. My clothes are already fitting better, too!
The best thing so far is that the ever-present circles under my eyes are fading... I don't know what it is about those circles, but I always seem to have them even when I am well-rested.
The only bad part so far is the cravings, and also that I've been getting slight headaches every day--which could be allergies, but I'm not sure.

Three more days! I think now that I've made it over the half-way point, I can do it no problem!

What is your favorite thing to eat raw? and... Where you ever into Pokemon? I never really understood it, but my little cousin mailed me a few cards when I was in high school and I thought they were super cute- especially Ponyta!

  2. My nephew was into pokemon, I think I was out of the phase to even feign interest in it :)

  3. Those little sushi things look delish! and what is Braggs? I have no cooking skills whatsoever, ugh! The kale chips look yummy too. Also, my brother and I were SUPER into Pokemon. He was even more into it, but because of that we always had the games and cards and whatnot laying around. I think I have a stuffed animal Pikachu around here somewhere, actually.

  4. Isn't it funny how we crave a good bread? I crave it non-stop. Not dessert, not chocolate, nothing except bread and butter. No detox has really cured me of that. Yet!

I'm so glad things are going well for you..your nails do look fabulous Sonia!

  5. Hey sweetie! My whole vegan transition came about last year when I became interested in raw cuisine. I started eating a high raw diet and, like you, I noticed some really great things! Notably, I felt on top of the world! :-) And I always felt refreshed after sleep :-) Can't eait to read more!

  8. Everything looks so good! I love nori wraps with raw pate! I'm trying to eat raw a bit more with summer fast approaching. It's just such a different (and TASTY) approach to food!

  9. Although I've never gone completely raw I have read a lot about it! I try to make most of my meals in the raw but dinners usually aren't (at least some parts of it). I agree though that it does make me feel better and I notice my body just seems to finction better! Must be all the nutrients! Gotta love it!

  10. My nails are horrible. by far my worst feature. I think I might give a raw diet a shot just so that I can improve them

  11. I don't think I would ever really want to be raw, but I do sometimes naturally detox by eating mostly fruits and veggies for a few days. I have sort of been doing that lately, actually! My body just naturally wants plants when it has had too much sugar, so it works itself out! I LOVE plain raw nuts and raw fruit the most. :)

  12. Those zucchini sandwiches are too cute! I love little finger sandwiches. And isn't it weird when you suddenly crave something you haven't had or wanted in forever?
