Flashback!

Hi friends! I'm so excited about the blogger bake sale! All proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders to aid the situation in Japan. If you're interested in donating a baked good (or anything else that can be auctioned) please let me know in a comment or by e-mail at smshah@eiu.edu . I will wait until Wednesday the 23rd for you to contact me and then the sale will begin! I was so excited to hear that so many of you are fans of this fantastic organization :)
**Note: Always make sure to research the organization you are donating to. It's really sad that there are people posing as legitimate organizations to solicit money for Japan. Some sites are even posing as the Red Cross to get money, and I have read about a few Facebook "Cause" applications that are not the real deal.

Okay, that's my public service announcement for today :)
One year ago today I celebrated my first St. Patrick's Day! I tried my first green beer and had a blast with friends...
My best friend Colleen!
Colleen, me, and Suzi
I miss these girls so much! Life is not the same without the shenanigans we used to get into...
Raine and I!
Oh...memories...
Today I started my day with a St. Patrick's inspired green smoothie:
In this mix:
1.5 frozen bananas
2 cups raw spinach
1 cup and a splash of almond milk
a few drops of peppermint extract
handful of chocolate chips
Blend it up and enjoy!

I don't know what is in store for this St. Patrick's Day besides a take-home exam and a research paper...but I'm sure that Raine and I will find something to do!
Oh- and my interview on Tuesday went really well :) This is what I wore:
Slanted. I promise I was standing up straighter during the interview ;)
I got this suit at The Limited. Did you know that if you have a school ID you get 15% off there?!
My mom gave me this pretty necklace- it went perfectly with my look.

Did you notice my hair cut and color? I'll post before and after pics soon!

Are you going to be drinking green beer tonight?

  1. No green beer for me, but we had margaritas and burritos at lunch today to celebrate! (Don't ask... hehe!) I can't wait to hear how your soda bread comes out (and how you vegan-ized it).

Also, suit looks great! Keep us posted on how things go with the interview.

  2. The necklace is gorgeous, as is the view from your balcony!
I can't believe people would use the situation in Japan to con money, that's really sad. I's definitely take part in the sale - but I don't think anything baked would survive being sent to America... :-)

  7. We celebrated Green Beer day around this time when I was in college, for four years! The beer was crazy green, and always left our mouths completely dyed green.
This year, Nick and I laid low and didn't really do anything. I did wear green though!
Your interview outfit looks great. Very professional. I hope it went well!

  8. Your hair and outfit look fabulous Sonia! So glad that yout interview went well.

Great job on the bake sale! And it really saddens me that people would pose as a fake charity during horribly trying times like these...I do believe there is a special place in hell for people like that.
